Prayer - Perseverance: We all beg God for our needs, but many of us tend to give up too easily. In today's Gospel, Jesus wants us to "pester" God and believe that He hears every cry of our heart. How often do we want to do Gods will, yet we follow our own will? Do we trust God enough? [Ord.Wk 32nd; Lk 18:1-5,7-8]

In the School of Prayer

Text: Luke 11:1-13

Prayer is not a luxury; it is a necessity.  The very fact that the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray indicates the importance and significance of prayer in the believer's life.  How must we prayer?

We must pray in God's will [Luke 11:2]

Prayer is getting God's will done on earth, not man's will done in heaven.  God does not answer prayer to meet our needs but to accomplish His eternal purposes in our lives and on this earth.

We must pray as children coming to a Father [Luke 11:11]

If the man in the parable, on the basis of friendship and social etiquette, will meet the needs of a friend, how much more will our Heavenly Father meet the needs of His children.  Therefore we approach the throne of grace with boldness and confidence.

We must pray for what's best for us [Luke 11:13]

We must go beyond praying for things and progress to asking God to give us the blessings of the Spirit that result in Christian character and conduct that glorious the Lord.

Prayer is a growing relationship with the Lord.  It is an enriching experience that satisfies deeply.  Let us purpose in our heart to grow from strength to strenght in our personal prayer life.

Someone once said that the greatest blessing of prayer is not receiving the answer, but in being the kind of person God can trust with the answer.

Good questions to ask each time you pray...

Will what I pray bring delight to God's heart?

Does my request contradict or conflict with the Word of God in anyway?

Am I submissive to God's will and will I gladly accept whatever God is willing to give me?

Can I say, "Not my will, but Your will be done?"

If my prayer is answered, will the result honor God?

Will it hurt or bring harm to someone else?

Will what I pray further my spiritual growth and bring me closer to God?

 Admit

Admit that you are a sinner

... everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence.  [Romans 3:26]

Sin separate us from God and untilmately that means eternal punishment in hell.
To escape sin's penalty,
we need divine forgiveness.
And it is ours through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Believe

Believe in Christ

They answered, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your family." [Acts 16:31]

We must acknowledge that Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and we must trust Him for our salvation.  Just as medicine is not a remedy until it is taken, so knowing the story of Jesus is not enough to save us.
We must personally receive the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Confess

Confess your faith

If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from death, you will be saved.  [Romans 10:9]

You can experience this new life right now
by praying this simple prayer:-

Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your love and forgiveness. I invite You into my heart as personal Savior and Lord.  In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
